Meditation

The other day I had the amazing opportunity to meditate with Tibetan Monks who have been blessed by his Holiness the 14th Dali Lama. I have to say I was blown away by it, not only did I get to have a fantastic meditation but I also got to do something that was probably a once in a life time thing.
We also got there early enough to see the monks making a mandala, which I was super excited to see, I have always had a fascination for mandalas, and how they are created and all the different things they mean so seeing this being done was fascinating

I learned about this through one of my favorite classes Human Spirituality, though I only took this class because I needed an elective outside of the art school it quickly became on of the best classes i have ever had the opportunity to take, not only was the curriculum fantastic but also the teacher. She was always so interested in the subject and open about listening to our opinions and stories that we had to share coming from other religions that she was not as familiar with.

Pony Pasture

So for the first time ever I went to this place that I've been hearing about my whole life. Pony Pasture is a fun and lively place during the summer, but thankfully we went on a cooler day where there weren't that many people around and we could take as many pictures as we wanted without people in the background.  That day I went with my friend Elizabeth from ( http://abeautiful-serendipity.blogspot.com/ ) and my sister who I had to take pictures of for one of my classes. Elizabeth was graceful enough to drive Sean and I to Pony Pasture which was about 5 miles from campus and down a really tiny road. I wanted to do an outfit of the day there but honestly I was wearing sweats and a t-shirt so I ended up taking her pictures for her.

My lame outfit is just Pink Yoga Pants and A Taylor Swift tour t-shirt.

Makeup!

Today was a day full of makeup!

Today I went lipstick hunting for my mother for the wedding we are going to this weekend. First off I want to start by saying my mother has really tiny lips and she never wears lipstick, and when she asked me to do her makeup for the weekend, of course I said yes! But the one thing I was most concerned about was doing her lipstick, so we decided to go to Sephora to see what they could do for her, and that was a fantastic decision, they were so helpful and showed me exactly what to do, I myself don't do anything crazy when it comes to lining my lips or over-drawing them, I just try to stick to my natural lip shape as much as possible, and even though I've seen a million youtube videos about it I still had no clue what to do. So they showed me how to do it and picked out the perfect color that was noticeable but not too crazy. They were so nice and understood exactly when we wanted and were altogether very helpful!

Today I was feeling pretty epic in the outfit I was wearing and with the makeup I had on! So I thought I would share it!

Belle Isle

Today I went to the river with my friend to take some photos and to do a little bit of exercise. While there we talked of many things and saw many things from the past that are more or less permanently there. We went to a little island called Belle Isle which is a popular place for many travelers and students alike in the City. The island is surrounded by the beautiful James River.

The island has been many things through the year including a Civil War prison and later in the twentieth century was turned into a hydroelectric power plant.

With all the old rusted metal and stones all over the place, it is very hard to not think about all the things that went on there. Though while there you always have to look our for all the rusted metal...

While there I thought it would be a good time to start doing outfits of the day....  I don't know what I was thinking I had my friend help me but I had never done any posing for photos, well nothing that wasn't "high fashion". So some of the photos of my outfit aren't really the best but I did have some fun and that's all that matters.

This day we were having another one of those strange temperature fluxes that are common in Richmond, Virginia, so I didn't exactly dress for the correct weather.

I am wearing:
Altered State Jeans: Nordstrom
Target Black Cardigan
Minnetonka 3-Layer Fringe Boot in Dusty Brown
Grey Shirt Form Delias
Lipstick - Lasting Finish By Kate in 01
My everyday necklace from forever 21 and a Mickey Mouse head from Disney World

My City, My Home

I live in a beautiful city with tons of history and art. We have one of the best art school in the country (which I am very lucky to be able to attend it) which can be noticed all over the city.

The history is incredible with one of the largest cemeteries on the east coast which I walk through frequently. The monuments that date back to the Civil War and, of course all the houses that have been built in previous centuries.

The art seen throughout the city includes tons and tons of murals that take over buildings, they are always changing and always in different styles.

There is tons to do in the city which I love and makes the city an even better place to live. I have been lucky enough to live no more than 30 minutes away from the city my entire life nonetheless I am always finding new places in the city some scary some beautiful.

I can't wait to describe and show off the world of Richmond, Virginia.
